Is it possible to dislike the Muppets? As a child, you laugh as the physical comedy and love the puppets as the next step after Sesame Street, but watching it as an adult, you realize that they aren’t really written for children. Kind of like all Pixar movies, except for Cars 2… Anyways, as part of building the hype to the release of the new Jason Segel-penned Muppets Movie late this fall, Disney studios has released an album of bands covering songs made famous by Jim Henson’s wacky crew. While I don’t think The Fray’s version of Mahna Mahna is as good as Cake’s, there are still some fun tracks on the album including Sondre Lerche’s Mr. Bassman and OK Go’s rendition of the Theme Song from The Muppet Show. Speaking of that OK Go track, they put together a video for the song with the help of the Muppets and put it up on Youtube. While not the single cut greatness that you’ve come to expect from these guys, it’s still really entertaining with great cameos by the Muppets and even references some of OK Go’s more popular videos.
