With the advent of digital music, it appears that we are headed back into a world of singles and the idea of an album is dying a rather slow death. It’s pretty amazing when you can have a great album full of good songs and not be able to pick out any singles as being much more memorable than the others. Ask someone to name the best Rolling Stones album and a number of them will say Exile on Main Street. Ask them to name their favourite Stones song and you’ll get tracks like Ruby Tuesday, You Can’t Always Get What You Want, Street Fighting Man, Gimme Shelter or Sympathy For The Devil. None of which come from Exile on Main Street. Now as much as I’d like to play the original Stones’ tracks for you, the people that own the rights to their songs have a pretty good legal department and I wouldn’t be able to keep the episode up for terribly long until we would be asked to take it down. So, I can do the next best thing, that’s right, posting a cover. This is what you’re hearing this week:

Fanmail – I Want It That Way from “Fanmail 2000″

Fountains of Wayne – Richie and Ruben from “Sky Full of Holes” (Download it here.)
Austra – Lose It from “Feel It Break”
Handsome Furs – Repatriated from “Sound Kapital” (Download it here.)
James Blake – To Care (Like You) from “James Blake”

Gaslight Anthem – Tumbling Dice
Joel Plaskett – When I Go from “Emergencys, False Alarms, Shipwrecks, Cast Aways, Fragile Creatures, Special Features, Demons and Demonstrations”
Cotton Jones – The Place By Which from “Laminar Excursion Monthly”

The Ghost Is Dancing – Louis Riel from “Battles On”

Thanks for listening and I’ll see you next week.
