In spite of what I want to write in this space, I’m sure you’ve heard enough of the Radiohead-fanboy gushing this week. Sure it’s great, but I really want to move beyond that. There’s been some other great music that’s been released over that last couple weeks that deserves a lot more attention than it’s been getting. It took me a long time to get into Danielson. The guy’s high pitched yelp was really grating for the first 50 times that I heard it. But then, oddly enough, I grew to like it. Sure it helped that over subsequent albums, he’s refined it, so it doesn’t sound like you just stepped on a cat’s tail, but I’ve really started to see a genius in it. He’s always had this interesting way of mixing his faith into his lyrics and talking about things rather openly that many other artists tend to shy away from. The title of the new album, Best of Gloucester County is a bit of a misnomer as it’s not a best of at all. I haven’t completely had a chance to sit down and listen to this album (really need to make it down to the local record store and pick it up on vinyl, yes, I’m one of the those guys…), but the preview tracks that they’ve released have left me with pretty high hopes for the album. Here’s what else is on the list:

Danielson – People’s Partay from “Best of Gloucester County” (Download it here.)

Moby – Victoria Lucas from “Be The One” EP (Download it here.)
The Cure – Purple Haze from “Stone Free: A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix”
Mogwai – White Noise from “Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will”

Radiohead – Codex from “The King Of Limbs”
Old Canes – Then Go On from “Daytrotter.com Sessions” (Download it here.)
Denison Witmer – I’ll Keep It With Mine from “Subterranean Homesick Blues: A Tribute To Bob Dylan’s Bring It All Back Home

Jake Shimabukuro – Hallelujah from “Peace Love Ukelele”

Thanks for listening and I’ll see you next week.
