2010 has had some great releases already. Vampire Weekend and Spoon released some pretty good discs and with The National and Starflyer 59 releases coming a little later, there’s still a lot that I’m looking forward to. One release that caught me by surprise was Retribution Gospel Choir’s new release, “2″. I was never huge fan of Low. I loved Things We Lost In The Fire, but that was really all that I heard from them, so I kind of disregarded the first release from RGC. I wound up downloading the first track off “2″ a couple weeks ago and during a recent trek to my local record store, I found a vinyl copy for a pretty good price and wound up picking it up. I’ve really been digging it. So much so that I thought I’d feature another track from it, even though I played another last week. So enjoy.

Other than that, this features a couple tracks from Daytrotter.com and something that might now qualify as a retro track. It’s tough to think of Dry The Rain by The Beta Band as retro but we’re not too far away from rap-metal making a comeback as something cool given that people have already moved onto grunge. Seriously, why are people wearing plaid shirts again? Crazy. Anyways, Dry The Rain came up during a recent day of using the random function on my music library and I felt like it fit this week. It really is a great track. Rob Gordon wasn’t lying. Here’s the playlist:

Retribution Gospel Choir – Working Hard from “2″

TW Walsh – Borrow My Vibe from “The Soft Drugs Get Back – Side A” (Download it here.)
BRIGHTLIVE – In Your Arms Tonight from “BRIGHTLIVE”
Sister Suvi – The Lot from “Daytrotter.com Sessions” (Download it here.)
The Wooden Sky – North Dakota from “When Lost At Sea”

Thrice – Come On Up To The House from “Daytrotter.com Sessions” (Download it here.)
Cary Brothers – Love Song (Donate to help Haiti and get it from here.)
Bon Iver – For Emma from “For Emma, Forever Ago”

The Beta Band – Dry The Rain from “Three EPs”

Thanks for listening and I’ll see you next week.

Jared
