Welcome back amigos, we’ll be swinging the pendulum back the other way this week with a set of tracks that are more on the rock and folk side, instead of sitting on the electroish side. The podcast also features one of my new favourite bands, the Gentlemen Husbands, which appear to be stunningly close to my own circle of friends, and who I’ll also have to honour of opening for a the Horseshoe Tavern (June 17!). While they do have newer songs they just released, this one here is still one of my favourites. And the last song of the podcast, “Song Written About Getting Cut by the Argos,” is likely the best song ever written about the Argonauts. Anywho, by the time you’re reading this, I’ll be in Minneapolis, Minnesota, checking out various rock landmarks as First Avenue (Prince’s club in “Purple Rain”), The CC Club (Replacements’ watering hole), and um, the Mary Tyler Moore statue outside of Target (It’s where she tossed the hat!). I’ll try to soak in some local culture, and I’ll share some of my findings next week. Aloha!
1. “Burning Daylight” by Hotkid from “Someday Somehow”
2. “Snarred in Philidelphia” by Gentlemen Husbands
3. “Two Time Loser” by Deep Dark Woods from “Winter Hours”
4. “Everyday” by Vetiver from “Tight Knit”
5. “Follow” by The Ending (**Sorry for this one, I had no idea how corporate these guys were until I put the podcast together, then I saw their totally awful video on Muchmusic when I was at the gym. If I wasn’t bound for the airport in a couple hours, I’d go back and excise this mother. But it’s a halfway decent song, regardless.)
6. “Song Written Upon Getting Cut by the Argos” by The CFL Sessions
