I’m not sure how it started, but I’ve developed a real appreciation for country music. Now this isn’t the current “New Country” coming out of Nashville these days but old-time country. I guess I’m not the only one. Mike Herrera, bassist and lead singer of long time pop-punk outfit MxPx, has put together a country band named Tumbledown. I’ve used some of their material in previous podcasts but now they’re finally gearing up for an official release. They put out a 7″ with Yesterday’s Ring on Anchorless Records and will have a full length out in a couple weeks. I’m really digging the two tracks on the EP and I’m kicking off the program with one of them. Now onto the playlist:
Tumbledown – Homeward Bound from split 7″ with Yesterday’s Ring
Tim Armstrong – Into Action (feat. Skye Sweetnam) from A Poet’s Life
Tiger Army – Afterworld from Music From Regions Beyond
Rancid – Time Bomb from …And Out Come The Wolves
The Huntingtons – I Wanna Be A Ramone from Plastic Surgery
Pattern Is Movement – Crazy In Love from Daytrotter.com sessions
Fleet Foxes – Mykonos from Sun Giant EP
Jeremy Enigk – Life’s Too Short from OK Bear
The National – Big Red Machine (feat. Bon Iver)
Thanks for listening and see you next week.
Jared
