Alright, so as you may have heard, this is my first podcast ever! Please bear with me as I get my bearings with this business. I’ve had a little experience with radio back in high school (CJLX!) and university (CFRC!) and even with a little music blogging once upon a time, so hopefully this won’t be too painful an experience.

I’m honoured to be podcasting here with the awesome guys at SilentTalkie (new to the site? take a look around!), so here goes number one… at the very least I hope you are entertained for half an hour.

1. “TMNT Mask” by Chad VanGaalen from “Soft Airplane”

I never really got into VanGaalen until his latest album, and I first I’ll admit I only loved the acoustic songs, followed by the “rocking” songs, then the electronic songs. But then the album grew on me, and surprise surprise, the electronic songs won me over.

2. “Daily Routine” by Animal Collective from “Merriweather Post Pavilion”

Yep, like billions of bloggers worldwide, I also love this new Animal Collective record… I don’t think it will put them in that Death Cab sell-out level of popularity, but I would be surprised to hearing all these songs in commericals and movies and TV by the end of the year. Here’s a song that’s not “My Girls.”

3. “American Names” by Sebastien Grainger “Sebastien Grainger and the Mountains”

Looks like SG is officially a SilentTalkie favourite, but it’s deserved. I’ve only seen him live once, but man it rocked so hard (partially due to the former bass player of the Illuminati holding down the low notes). I’m looking forward to checking out his in-store at Sonic Boom next week!

4. “I Never Wanted You” by Headphones from “Headphones”

Dave Bazan is amazing, and I’m sure in the future I’ll regale you with piles of DB tracks as his new album finally gets released to the public. In the meantime, here’s the saddest (therefore greatest) album from his keyboard-heavy sideproject (okay the song about the car accident with his wife is nearly a tie). Note my super awesome drum remix at the end.

5. “Woods” by Bon Iver from “Blood Bank EP”

Some people have been saying this track is a sign that Auto-tune is on it’s way out, but this track is more rooted in the Imogen Heap-style vocal chorus type thing that’s pretty played (Don’t forget, there was auto-tune in “For Emma” too). Anyways, still a beautiful song.

6. “Dream Baby Dream (Suicide cover)” by Bruce Springsteen

I cut out the live applause at the begining to make the track a little less jarring for the podcast, but I like the effect it achieved, so that the applause at the end of the track almost sounds like another instrument. Anyways, this is a strange song for the Boss, but he does it well.

That’s all! Thanks again for tuning in. If you are so enraptured with the sound of my voice, check out some of my original music on Myspace at myspace.com/tyronewarner. Say hi.
